What is a Kollel?
A Kollel is a fellowship of families committed to full-time Torah learning and community building. These families serve as role models, educators, and leaders, fostering Jewish growth in every corner of the community.
Why Does Indianapolis Need a Kollel?
Indianapolis has strong foundations, but we face challenges:
Jewish Population:
Without new families moving in, our community struggles to grow. A Kollel can attract families, and boost the Jewish population by an estimated 30% over the next decade.
School Enrollment:
Hasten Hebrew Academy needs more students. Kollel families could quickly increase enrollment by 15% and increase the talent pool of Jewish studies teachers.
Synagogue Engagement:
Participation has declined, making it harder to maintain vibrant synagogues. Kollel members will attend and lead services, helping to increase attendance significantly over the next few years.
How Indy Kollel Will Impact Our Community:
Indy Kollel will be the force that circulates the energy of Torah learning and connection throughout our community. A vibrant Beis Medrash (Torah study hall) will anchor high-level study, while its impact spreads to schools, synagogues, and families. Programs for all ages and the involvement of dedicated Kollel families will create a spirit of growth, unity, and belonging, strengthening every corner of Jewish life in Indianapolis.
